No-exam life insurance

Accelerated underwriting eligibility, how it works, and what happens if you do not qualify.

Accelerated underwriting is now standard at many carriers: for applicants in their age and amount window, a decision comes from the application, Rx history, driving record, and other sources—no paramedical exam. Decisions can arrive the same day. Each quote here tells you whether the carrier expects an exam, might ask for one, or won't require one.

What it changes

No exam does not mean no underwriting. Your answers are checked; a policy issued for wrong information can be challenged in the first two years. If the carrier's records flag something, it may still request an exam or labs—you choose what to do next.

Who tends to qualify

Usually applicants under about 60, requesting amounts within the carrier's accelerated window, with clean health history and at least a year tobacco-free. Some carriers will take recent blood work from a doctor's visit instead of a paramedical exam.

An exam, if needed, is typically a 20–30-minute visit by a paramedic at your home or office in the San Rafael area, at no charge. Clean results can improve your rate class, so the exam is not always bad news.
